18 Why Restaurants Fight These Issues
Labor is 1/3 of our costs. We have more labor than most other industries. 1/3 of all New Mexicans get their first job in a restaurant. Low Profit Margins Myth: Restaurant Owners make 30% to 40% profits Truth: On average Restaurants make 5%

What Can You Do?

20 Ways to Win Friends & Influence
Here are 5 Ingredients for Successful Advocacy: Be kind and respectful. Be truthful. Know what you are saying and don't lie! Have integrity about your word. Use facts where you can but don’t forget to appeal to emotion. People make decisions based on emotion. Be brief and concise in your message. Don’t threaten!

21 California Receipt Message
The Receipt Message is a completely FREE way for you to help promote the industry we all love—and everything our businesses contribute to their communities each day. The message tells customers how much, on average, restaurants invest in their business and employees.

Guest Receipt Message The general public needs to know… “Because we value you… Nationally, an average of 95cents of every dollar restaurant customers spend goes into the food, employees and place. Come Again!”

In testing both in focus groups and with real restaurant customers, consumers responded favorably to knowing that most of what they pay for a meal goes right back into the operation.

24 Talk to Elected Officials and Candidates
