5. American Indian Program—NMSU Participated in the Miss Native American NMSU Pageant 2009 and the Native American Mentor/Mentee Program

6. Present Leadership
I have been a Futures for Children mentee since first grade.
The futures for children program provides educational services through the three circles of support :
Mentorship,
Youth Leadership, and
Family in action.
Mostly for American Indian Children in New Mexico.

7. Present Leadership… A Gates Millennium Scholar from Bill Gates.
Based on strong leadership, community service, and academic achievements.

8. Volunteer Work Volunteered summer of 2009 at Crownpoint IHS.
Helped patients.
Assisted Doctors and Nurses.

9. Leadership with Culture
Tradition is important. It shows your strengths and where you come from.
It represents you as a person and shows your character. There are so many
teachings to learn from our elders and pass on to future generations. Leadership
is important so that our tradition and culture stays alive.

10. Our Traditional ways:
Hogan- Live in Peace and Happiness
Moccassins- walk in beauty.
Basket- the four sacred directions.
represents life.

11. The Navajo Bun is to have positive thoughts and creative minds.

12. Leadership With Family
I have younger siblings, cousins and aunts younger than me, so I provide
leadership within my family by being a positive role model. I try to do things
the right way so that the younger generations can learn from my mistakes.
I teach them and guide them as they grow up so that they can be leaders of
the future.
