Photosynthesis = uses energy from the sun to change carbon dioxide and water into oxygen and energy-rich carbohydrates.
Photosynthetic organisms on land = plants
In the ocean = algae
In salt marshes & tidal flats = cyanobacteria

3. Autotrophs
Some organisms get energy from a different source (not sunlight).
These organisms use chemical energy to make energy rich carbohydrates. This is chemosynthesis!!
Example: archaebacteria like
methanogens get energy from
mineral water in undersea vents
or hot springs.
