Vocational & Technical Programs
In order to apply: Make sure the program is accredited Must be 18 years of age Must have High School Diploma Deadlines vary so need to look into the program. Questions to ask about job placement: % of people that are able to find employment after they complete the program? Do you provide services for job placement and if so for how long? ***Nearly all training offered at vocational schools can be done at a community college for a fraction of the cost***

If you’re going to a community college or vocational school…
Research different college and program options Visit college campuses/programs Complete applications Decide what your goal is (AA degree, job training or transfer to a 4 year university- TAG) Find out when and where you can take your EAP exams Begin researching scholarship opportunities Request letters of recommendation for scholarships Meet with your counselor to make sure you’re on track to graduate Make sure you’re passing all classes

Financial Aid Is NOT Just For Students Going To A 4-Year University
Financial Aid is available for ALL accredited vocational and technical programs, community colleges, and 4-year universities. Loans Grants Work Study Scholarships Everyone needs to fill out FAFSA or Dream Act!! Explain different types and also remember to point out that they go to .gov because if they go to other websites they make them pay to download the form.

Important Things to Remember
Do NOT use your school when signing up for the FAFSA or Dream Act The FSA ID is NOT the FAFSA. It is only your electronic signature You will be ed an access code. Check your for directions moving forward If your parents do not have a SS#, you can still submit the FAFSA with their written signature
