Traveled to Protestant lands in secret to minister to Catholics.

The Counter-Reformation had succeeded in ending most corruption.
However, Protestantism had gained a strong foothold.
To this day Europe remains divided by interpretations of Christianity.

Most scholars believe it had to do with people’s dual beliefs in Christianity and magic!
Witches worked with aid from the devil and were seen as anti-Christian.
Most of the accused were social outcasts.
