Bulky Waste –Things that are bulky items are all items too large for regular cart collection: --Refrigerators and freezers there is a $25 charge to pick up on your bulk week, if not scheduled on regular bulk week there is an additional $20 charge.
Household Chemical – Paint , cleaning supplies, pesticides, pool chemicals, lawn chemicals Scheduled as needed -- Charge of $10 applies for a maximum of up to 15 gallons. Propane tanks there is a charge of $35 per tank to collect.
Special Paid – Scheduled as needed by resident-- Charge of $10 a cubic yard applies and $20 a cubic yard for concrete with a minimum charge of $20 for a special collection.
All services are delayed 1 day after City Holidays, excessive normal household bags of trash will be collected outside the cart. City Holidays observed, News year Day, Martin Luther Kin Day, Memorial Day, 4t of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving day and Christmas Day.
Received a $58,000+ grant to begin program with a part-time coordinator, containers/equipment, and biodegradable bags for collection.
Included 40% goal and annual contribution within our revised commercial franchise agreement with solid waste hauler
Utilized $110,000 in budgeted funding to create professional marketing materials, work-shop outlines, and waste audit tools – Gershman, Brickner & Bratton consultant group
Focus on programs that best utilize all existing resources, captures and diverts the majority of the waste stream, educational benefit for individuals that work and live in Plano with the same Single-stream recycling program
Has been successful in improving the diversion rate through recent challenges – enclosure requirements, economic downturn, and soft recycling markets. Positive future with enclosure grant, program awareness and growth (word of mouth), and future Construction and Demolition recycling.

Specifications-Tree trimmings and brush should not exceed 6 ft in length , 4 ft in height and 4 ft wide. Large tree limbs and stumps should be placed in a separate pile.

9. Issues Safety concerns – 2012 results
Safety concerns with servicing carts on the opposite side of the cab and not in direct line of sight, relying on camera system and mirrors most of the time.
Two property damage incidents in first 30 days.
No damage or safety issues in last 5 months
Shadowing on video screen limits visibility.
Camera angle adjusted & improved visibility
The mental awareness required to service both sides of the alley (activating joystick switch, observing both sides of alley and cart location) fatigue could lead to missed carts and/or accidents.

Plano Streets Dept. reports $200k in alley repairs average $954 per job. If only 10% result of EWS vehicle damage = savings of $20k per year
