Three-step mechanism of LT in AIP. LT released by acinar cells initiates inflammation by recruiting immune cells (step I). Accumulated immune cells and IgGs characterize the second step of progression (step II). LT maintains autoimmunity in the pancreas through the formation of lymphoid tertiary lymphoid tissue and release of IgGs (step III).
