2 What is 5-2-1-0? Is this a new strange way of counting?
No, it is a new lesson that we will talk about today. Each number stands for an important way for us to help our bodies stay healthy. Are you ready to see what these numbers stand for?

3 Five Vegetables & Fruits Each Day

4 Fruits &Vegetables Fruits & Vegetables give our body the vitamins and minerals it needs. They help our immune system to become stronger. Do you know what your immune system does? It helps your body fight against getting sick.

5 What are some of your favorite vegetables?

6 What are some of your favorite fruits?

7 Try Something New! Try a new type of fruit or vegetable that you haven’t tried before You should try at least 3 normal sized bites to see if you may like it. Sometimes you have to try things 8-10 times before your tongue starts to like them.

8 Serving Size A serving size is how much of something you should eat.
Do you think 3 bites is a serving size? No! One serving is a ½ cup if chopped. It is the size of the palm of your hand. .

9 Two Hours or Less in Front of a Screen

10 What is a Screen? .

11 Why? They usually eat snacks.
What do people usually do while they are sitting in front of a TV? They usually eat snacks. This means we are sitting still while eating . This makes our bodies become unhealthy. .

12 What are some other activities we can do instead of being in front of a screen?

13 Let’s Try This Only turning on the TV to watch a certain show we want to watch. Remember we should only have 2 hours or less in front of a screen. Turning off the TV, phones, and games during meals with your family.

14 One Hour of Physical Activity Each Day

15 What is Physical Activity?
Physical activity means that you are doing an activity that makes your breathe hard. You should be exercising for at least 1 hour or 60 minutes each and every day. Let’s see if we can name some examples of physical activities.

17 Vigorous Physical Activities
This makes your body and heart work harder. These kinds of activities make you sweat and breathe hard. .

18 How Long? You should do at least 20 minutes of vigorous physical activity. What are some vigorous activities? Running Swimming Jump rope Soccer Basketball .

19 Zero Sugary Drinks .

20 What are Sugary Drinks? Some examples are: Sodas Fruit juices
Can you think of and name some examples of sugary drinks? Some examples are: Sodas Fruit juices Sports drinks Chocolate Milk Lemonade .

21 Sugary Drinks They may taste good, but sugary drinks do not give us any of the vitamins or minerals that our body needs. The sugars in these drinks are not good for our teeth and can make up thirstier. .

22 What Should We Drink Instead?
WATER Most important nutrient to our body. Our body is made up of 70-80% of water. Sweating makes our body lose water, so we need to replace it. You can add flavor to water by adding in fruit slices. .

23 Let’s Review Five servings of vegetables & fruits each day
Two hours or less in front of a screen One hour of physical activity Zero sugary drinks .
