2 CHAPTERS ACC’S “Grassroots”
66 Governors representing 45 states, DC, Mexico, Canadian Provinces, US Public Health Services and Armed Forces. If your state has a chapter, the Governor is automatically Chapter President.

3 ACC CHAPTERS Started because of the increasing state legislative and regulatory policies. Since their inception, however, many more areas for member involvement have emerged. Chapters offer ACC members a chance be involved – education, advocacy, quality of care initiatives. Networking with peers through a Chapter is also an important benefit. All chapters have Chapter Executive and Council

4 ACC STAFF ACC Chapter Affairs office, as well as other ACC Staff, are always available to help but Chapter Executive should be your first line of contact. Very Knowledgeable. Very dedicated. If they don’t know an answer, they know how to find out.

5 Chapter Support Chapter President ACC staff Councilors
Chapter Executive Councilors support Chapter President, ACC Staff support Chapter President, Chapter Execs. ACC Staff are glad to help councilors but due to sheer numbers, Chapter Executives should be your first line of communication.

6 Chapter Councils: Governance Structures Vary by Size
The “right” size is the size that gets the job done.

7 Council and Committees
Chapter Governance varies by size; the right size is the size that gets the job done. Connect information flow between the Committees and Workgroups to the Council by making Council members Chairs/members of the subgroups.

8 Role of District Councilors
To facilitate communication between District and Chapter Leadership. Check your Chapter Bylaws

9 Expectations of District Councilors
Attend Council Meetings or assure representation to the meetings by designated approved alternate. Attend and participate in Chapter functions. Recruit new members to the Chapter and ACC. Maintain an active communication ( address) with the Council, Chapter President and Chapter. Contact members in your District when an urgent response is needed. Monitor the needs of cardiologists in your District and communicate them to the Council. Promote the Chapter by relaying information, activities and accomplishments to members. “Other duties as assigned.” Dependent on Bylaws and Council structure.
