A graph is a visual display of information or data. Graphed data has greater impact. Trends (changes) stand out Quantities can be easily compared

Line Graphs – are used to show trends or how the data change over time.

Bar Graphs – are useful for comparing information

Circle (pie) Graphs – are used to show how a quantity is broken down into parts.

Graphing Basics Bigger is better Each graph needs a descriptive title
Axes should be clearly marked (with units) Use a ruler to draw axis lines X – axis is along the bottom Y – axis is vertical (along the side) Lines drawn for units are equally spaced
