The most attractive places are the Vihorlat Mountains boasting of their Morské oko lake, and the Poloniny (Wooden Carpathians) at the border of Slovakia, Poland, and Ukraine, which are part of the National Park Poloniny.

Svidnik is district town. It lies in nothern part of Low beskydy. The museum of Ukrainian Kulture is merged with the Slovak National Museum. There is skanzen, when are Technical and economic buildings of 19. and early 20. century.
In Skanzen are water mill, windmill, water saw. There is jewish cemetery of 18. century.
