Explaining how to do something in steps. Describing an event as it happened—like a story. Using story elements—literary elements to tell a news story. Copying permitted

6 Sequence or Order Narratives tend to follow a chronological pattern—from beginning to end. Narratives, however, do not tell everything. Copying permitted

7 Be Selective Don’t tell everything.
Don’t tell about your whole life with your aunt. Tell about the time she took you to shop for a new pair of shoes for your first day of school. Copying permitted

8 Invitation to Read: What Does the Writer Focus on?
