2. Customizing Columns in Patient Lists
Column Customization allows users to quickly determine which pertinent pieces of information [columns] that they want displayed within Patient Lists that they create. In addition, Column Customization allows users to determine the layout of the selected columns within the Patient List.
Although the system administrator-defined columns appear automatically (by default) within Patient Lists, users can determine which additional columns that they want displayed in order to easily access pieces of patient information.

3. Choose Customize Columns from the Patient List menu.

To begin customizing columns that are displayed within Patient Lists, a user must access the Customize Columns Tool.
Choose the Customize Columns Icon on the Patient List Toolbar; OR
Choose Customize Columns from the Patient List menu.

Either method will trigger the Column Customization window to display.

From the Customize Columns Tool window, choose the column that you want displayed within your Patient List from the Available Columns category.
Select it by clicking it.
Click on the right arrow to move the column to the Existing Columns category.
Click on the Save Icon to save your changes.

When the Customize Columns Tool is closed the column that you added to your Patient List will now be displayed.

Removing a Column within a Patient List
From the Customize Columns Tool window, choose the column that you do not want displayed within your Patient List from the Available Columns category.
Select it by clicking on it.
Click the Remove icon.
Click on the Save Icon to save your changes.
Your changes have to be saved by clicking on the save icon in order for them to take effect in your Patient List.

When you close the Customize Columns Tool the column that you removed will no longer be displayed on your Patient List.

Re-Sequencing Columns within a Patient List
From the Customize Columns Tool window, choose the column that you want to re-position by clicking it.
Use the and to position the column heading where you want it to fall on the displayed Patient List.
Repeat re-sequencing until all columns are listed the way that you want them displayed within your Patient List.
Click on the Save Icon to save your changes.
Close the Customize Columns Tool. When you return to your Patient List, the columns will be sequenced in the manner that you selected.

From the Customize Columns Tool window, choose the column that you want to re-name by clicking it twice (allow about one second between each click).
When the column name is selected, enter the new name for the column.
Click Enter when finished entering the new column name.
Click on the Save Icon to save your changes.

Close the Customize Columns Tool. When you return to your Patient List, the columns will be renamed with the names that you specified.

12. Returning to the Default Columns within a Patient List

Returning to the Default Columns within a Patient List
From the Customize Columns Tool window, click the Return to Default Columns icon.
You will receive a message box, prompting you to confirm that you do want to return the columns that are displayed in your Patient List to the settings established by the system administrator. Click Yes on the message box.
Your Patient List will now display only default columns. All other columns (such as Consulting Physician, Primary Care Physician, and Visit Reason, etc.) that you added during column customization will not display.

REMEMBER
Column Customization Changes that are made within your Patient List do not appear to other users – even if they have proxy access!!!!
Default columns (i.e. Name, MRN, FIN) should NEVER be removed, or they will not display on your Patient List.
Not all columns will generate information for every list type. If this is the case, the column will remain unpopulated (blank).
