2. Firearms safety is your top priority… first and always!

FIREARMS SAFETY RULES
Know the condition of your firearm at all times. (All guns are loaded).
Always keep the muzzle of the firearm pointed in a safe direction. Never point the muzzle at anything you are not prepared to destroy or buy.
Finger off the trigger (outside of the trigger guard) until your have your sights on target and you’ve made a conscience decision to press the trigger.
Know your target and what is beyond it.
You are responsible for your actions!

4. 1. Know the condition of the weapon at all times (assume it’s loaded)
Clearing (unloading) and checking your firearm
Keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction
Remove the ammunition and source (magazine) for semis 1st
Work the action several times to confirm nothing is in the chamber
Visually inspect the chamber
Ask someone else to verify the chamber is clear
Inspect it again!
Leave the action open – Insert a chamber flag
Place the firearm on the bench pointed in a safe direction or in the holster.

Muzzle must be pointed in a safe direction at all times.
“Flagging” someone or something happens when your muzzle crosses something that you don’t to destroy or buy! Flagging happens when people get lazy, and apathetic.
You own your safety and that of those around you.

Finger is ALWAYS off the trigger, along the frame (and out side of the trigger guard) until you’ve made a decisions to shoot.

You must know where you’re sending the round.
You “own” every round you send down range.
If unsure of the back stop don’t shoot.
Negligent discharges (unintended firing events)
happen and can have serious consequences!

12. Safe Storage
Define:
1) How you will safely store your firearms to ensure unauthorized people do not have access.
2) How quickly you want access to the firearm.
3) How resistant you want the storage to be
Storage options include:
Gun Safes
Cable locks
Trigger Locks
Ammo / Firearms locked in separate containers

13. Ammunition Selection
Make sure the ammunition / cartridge you are using is the proper caliber for your firearm.
DO NOT shoot a cartridge that is not a caliber match for the gun you are shooting.
