History In years past, school nutrition directors were often frustrated because they were unable to quickly locate program information when a question arose. As a result, area consultants and program associates on the state staff received frequent requests for help. In 2006, the program associates met to brainstorm ideas and created a resource to address this need. The Flip-n-Find came by its name when it was first developed as a hard copy tool – the user would flip the pages and find the information. Since then it has evolved into an electronic resource that can be easily accessed on the School Nutrition Program web site and copied to a computer desktop.

Steps to Access Georgia Department of Education School Nutrition Program web page Program Resources To access the Flip-n-Find on the Internet, go to Bookmark this site as you will find it useful in the future. On the School Nutrition web page, scroll down to “Program Resources”, click on the link, and the Flip-n-Find will open.

Save to Desktop In the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, (cue animation) click on the computer disk icon.

Save to Desktop First, (cue animation) a “Save a Copy” window will open. Next (cue animation), in the “Save in” drop down box, be sure “Desktop” is selected. 12 Warning Message When clicking on a hyperlink to access a resource, you may receive a warning message such as this one. If so, (cue animation) click “Allow” and proceed.

Table of Contents Let’s go back to the Table of Contents.
The items found in the list here are called “categories”. The instruction pages we just reviewed are (cue animation) typed in blue. Any “New” categories are noted as such (cue animation) in red. For ease in locating a category, they are listed in alphabetical order (cue animation) beginning with “Acronyms & Terms”.

Hyperlinks You may have noticed there are no page numbers – instead, category names are hyperlinked to their respective pages. Place (cue animation) your cursor over any category. You will see it becomes a pointing finger which indicates a hyperlink has been created. Click your left mouse button once and you will be taken automatically to the selected category’s page.

Hyperlinks

Category Layout Each category’s page is arranged in three columns:
The column labeled (cue animation) Resources/Forms is where you will find links to web sites of electronic resources, the School Nutrition Online database, also known as SNO, and assorted electronic forms. The other two columns are (cue animation) Tasks and (cue animation) Deadlines. These columns list any task and deadline that may pertain to a specific resource.

Resource Hyperlinks The same feature that is used to link Table of Content categories with their respective pages in the Flip-n-Find is also used to link web addresses to resources on the Internet. Place (cue animation) your cursor over the desired web address, click the left mouse button once and you will be taken automatically to the selected resource.

Resource Hyperlinks

Page Notations If resources are updated or added to the Flip-n-Find, they will be noted as such (cue animation) in red. Some categories have more than one page of resources. This is indicated by a (cue animation) note in the bottom left corner of selected pages. All pages include a hyperlink in the (cue animation) bottom right corner so that you can quickly return to the Table of Contents and begin another search.
