R&D Product/Process Development Technologist - Poole
(Occasional travel to other sites will be required) The core focus of this role is to develop & improve products for our brands and factory processes so they deliver strongly against consumer preference drivers and the brand values, and increase sales and profit. Key Accountabilities: Assisting with significant new product development and improvement projects. Designing new recipes and working them through to launch, to include leading project tastings, factory trials, product presentations, consumer testing, and launch handovers. Providing support to manufacturing sites as and when required. Implementing improvement initiatives around product information, e.g. quality specifications, recipe accuracy & shelf-life testing. Responsible for key ‘business as usual’ tasks involved in running a successful R&D team (kitchen sample preparation and production recipe management, product data sheet, micro testing, nutritional testing, product induction schools, looking out for and sharing new trends). Able to take decisions on factory trials as to when to tweak a recipe or process settings, to ensure success. Great judgement to make sure all projects are delivered successfully on time. The nature of this job means you’ll be working with lots of different departments within the business, so strong interpersonal skills are needed. Be able to demonstrate skills implementing continuous improvement with benefits to the business. Keen interest in the food industry and food itself. Ability to learn on the job and pick up new skills quickly. Previous experience of product or process development would be beneficial. Food related degree, minimum of 2:1 or equivalent.
