1 Theatre Arts Class rules & regulations
Mrs. Beth Perry Rooms 801

2 No Eating or Chewing Gum in either class
We have a huge problem here with ants, roaches, spiders, and mice. Food or food containers on the floor or the trash encourage these creatures to come out of the wood work. Drinks as long as they have a twist top is ok. No open cans allowed! Accidents happen and sticky floors encourage bugs as well. Gum is not allowed in class at ALL. It ends up on the floors & desks. Its gross!

3 No Cellphones! You can not participation in group activities if you are stuck on your cellphone. I take 10 points off your daily participation grade every time I see you are on your cellphone. That adds up!

4 Respect Everyone! This is a NO-Bullying Zone
If you don't have something nice to say, then don't say anything! I know people aggravate you...they aggravate me too, but I can still be nice! When others are performing we ALWAYS encourage and never say negative things while others are working onstage. We are not at the movies and actors can hear you! Treat others how you would like to be treated. Name calling is something my 9 year old would do.... you're in high school. ACT LIKE IT!

5 Consequences What Happens When a Problem Arises?
Should a problem arise within the classroom, I use the following discipline system: First Offense – Verbal Warning Second Offense – Parental Contact Third Offense – Disciplinary Referral (this often results in ISS or Suspension depending on the severity of the offense.) Please understand that all three actions can take place within the same class period.

Bethann Perry 8/29/2016 Improv Wicked I watched the video and found out that there are different types of puppets. I never realized that it is okay for the audience to see the puppeteer. There was even one guy with some bird on a rope! He had amazing control of his Zazu puppet.

Please understand that this a performance and participation based class.  I strongly encourage your attendance be 100%, this class requires a lot of group work and if you miss class regularly it can affect your grade and the grade of your partners. Audience Participation You must be in your seat for the performance to start on time. Do not talk Do not make noise You have a responsibility in live performance to the performers and to the rest of the audience Stay off cellphones even in the audience. Don’t put your feet on the back of the chair in front of you. It is just plain rude. Do not get out of your seat for any reason unless it is during scene changes. Do not take photos during performances.

10 Student Workers This is a Participation Graded position.
Weekly student workers are responsible for straightening up each day five minutes before class is over. Student workers will clean up any trash on the floors in each room and sweep if necessary. Student workers will also oversee returning all chairs to their proper position in the corner of the performance space each time we are in room 809. They will run errands as needed during the class period.

11 Monologues Weekly you will be expected to perform  (of my choosing) a monologue as either a formal or informal performance.   Thursday will be monologue day. This assignment will be graded weekly as a 25% of  grade. No GUM onstage! Chewing gum during performances will result in a ZERO for the grade.
