“You understand that this is wrong…”
“Students in public education feel stifled…”
Talking to “you”!!!! NO!! Just…NO!!
THIS…
“You could really dig deep.”
When you look at this ad, first you see this…then you see this… finally, you see this…
Never. Again.
Bias- It doesn’t work in argument or analysis. It only WEAKENS your argument.
Leaving claims unsupported and evidence unexplained.

3. The Bad… Transitions between paragraphs and new ideas—NEEDS WORK
Prepositional phrases don’t need commas
Semi-colon vs. colon—when do we use what?
RUN ON SENTENCES!!!

The Good…
These folks wrote sound arguments with lots of well researched evidence to support their claims.
They used the example I gave as a mentor text, and imitated the exemplar as best they could.
They also explained how the evidence supports their arguments.
