What is Future City?
Students use the engineering design process to find futuristic solutions to world problems.
There are four tasks:
Create a digital city using the game SimCity
Research the problem and write a 1,500 word essay describing the solution
Build a city model using recycled materials
Present the solution 2

14. AGT ~ Academy for Gifted and Talented is Opening August 2016
Located at Williams School
Selection criteria: application, gifted identification, ACT Aspire scores, 3-4 Proficiency level on report card in core subject areas, teacher recommendation, and writing sample
Review of application by a diverse committee
Forty-nine students identified gifted 5th graders have been offered a seat
Next steps: Staff with three gifted certified teachers, prepare dedicated space, provide tour, schedule professional development 14
