The management of change and development within a business or similar organisation. Change management is an approach to transition individuals, teams and organisations to a desired future state. How are you going to transfer learnings from today and change your club to make it a better club.

Clubs need to change to stay relevant. How people are consuming sport is changing.

Political – tax policy/legislation Economic – interest rates Trends – consumer attitudes Technology innovations – introduction of the internet Financial i.e. lack of money For example 1 billion less letters posted in 2014 than in 2007-largely because of increase of , social media, the internet.

Assess need for and type of change Form a vision for future Explore scope of change required Identify key groups whose commitment is required Clarify problems / opportunities Investigate alternative solutions Identify potential risks Develop a business case / plan for the change

Innovators (2.5%) – brave, pulling change, important communication tools Early Adopters (13.5%) – respected, leaders, try new ideas but in careful way Early Majority (34%) – thoughtful, careful, accept change more quickly than average Late Majority (34%) – skeptic, only try new things once majority are doing it Laggard (16%) – traditional people, caring of old ways, critical of new ideas, only accept change if it becomes mainstream
