Directions: Using the map on pg. 286 of your textbook to complete the following tasks. Color the entire Byzantine Empire (all the land within the bold, black boundaries) purple, just like on the map in your book. Be sure to make a color swatch for it in your map key (blank box on the bottom left of your map) and label it “Byzantine Empire.” Find and label the city of Constantinople. Draw a dot to represent the city on your map. Be sure to make draw a dot in your map key and label it “Cities.” Find and label the Bosporus and Dardanelles Straits. The Bosporus can be found on your textbook map. You must remember where the Dardanelles is. We talked about the strait when we learned about Greece. Here is a hint: it is opposite of the Bosporus and flows into the Aegean Sea. Find and label the Black Sea. Color it blue. Find and label the Aegean Sea. Color it blue. Find and label the Mediterranean Sea. Color it blue. Find and label the Balkan Peninsula. Find and label Asia Minor. Find and label the Italian Peninsula.
