Test Administration Dates

Test Integrity We all share the responsibility of maintaining integrity of assessment so that we can confidently report performance to students, parents, and the public. It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure: students are prepared assessments are administered appropriately assessment booklets and test items are secure at all times Additional materials available on WDE website:

Preparing for Test Administration
Obtain Directions for Administration manual Review PAWS Recommended Testing Times Review DFA in its entirety in advance Review PAWS test security procedures Review PAWS Allowable Resources Guidelines Ensure English learners and students with disabilities receive accommodations Additional materials available on WDE website: RTQs are available on the WDE PAWS webpage, behind the ‘Materials by Grade’ toggle:

Test Security All assessment items and responses are considered secure materials No secure PAWS materials may ever be duplicated in any way All Test Administrators and individuals handling secure materials MUST read and sign the Test Security Agreement before handling/administering the test Disclosure of any secure materials or test items is a serious breach of test security Report any breaches of security or testing violations to the Building Coordinator immediately

Test Security cont. Distribution of testing materials will occur the day of the administration Test items may not be disclosed to anyone Test booklets are to remain in the building at all times unless permission has been granted by WDE in writing Reviewing or altering student responses is strictly prohibited Please review the Allowable Resources Guidelines

Some Examples of Test Security Breaches
Reviewing secure test questions (before, during, and after testing) Failure to maintain security of test materials Discussing the test items with anyone Copying, or asking students to copy, the tests in any manner Developing a score key Allowing students to remove the secure test materials out of the testing environment, or move the secure materials to another location

Before for Test Administration
Know your testing schedule Know your testing roster(s) Know the process for picking-up and returning secure materials Sign PAWS Test Security Agreement Remove (or cover) any materials on walls or desks which may assist students with answering test questions Note: Removing or covering material – When it doubt, cover it.

During the Test Administration
Clear desktops of any materials not necessary for test administration Verify that appropriate grade-level assessment is being administered Verify that students have the correct Pre-ID’d Student TAB or answer document, or assist with filling in student demographic information Read the directions exactly as written Note: Test Administrators may answer questions about directions but not about any test items.

During the Test Administration
Maintain test security at all times Follow the testing schedule provided by the Building Coordinator Follow directions for test administration provided in the PAWS Directions for Administration Manual Administer all testing subjects together and sections in order Ex. Reading 1, 2, 3 (week 1) then Math 1, 2, 3 (week 2) Report and record any test irregularities or security breaches to the Building Coordinator immediately Fill in appropriate boxes on Student TABs or answer documents for student accommodations or special forms

After the Test Administration
Maintain test security at all times Check the demographic information for all students who did not have Pre-ID labels, make sure bubbles are completely filled in Remove all draft/scratch paper, patty/tracing paper, graph/grid paper, lined paper that may be left in books Return all materials to the Building Coordinator when each test session is complete

Testing Irregularities
Testing irregularities may compromise the reliability and validity of the test All testing irregularities, including test security breaches, must be reported to the Building Coordinator immediately All testing irregularities must be submitted on a PAWS Irregularity Report Form

Some Examples of Testing Irregularities
Coaching students or giving answers to the students Discussing questions with students during testing Providing instruction related to the test during the test administration Observing a student copying answers from another student’s work Allowing students to have additional materials or tools not specified on an IEP or Section 504 plan Contamination (by blood or body fluid) of a Student TAB or answer document
