1 Art Apocalypse How to Zombify Your Portraits

2 STEP 1: DRAW THE PORTRAIT
Sketch out your portrait. Lay down the basic features of the face and some light shadows to define the structure. The first zombie thing you can do is draw small pinpoint pupils. This will start creating that blank stare zombies walk around with.

3 STEP 2: CUTS AND EXPOSED FLESH
Start creating some of the gore by drawing cuts on the face as well as areas of torn skin and exposed flesh. Decide if you want a small amount of gore with only one or two cuts, or if you want to push it further.

4 In the areas of exposed flesh… shade in tiny speckled areas leaving white sections in between to create texture. Leave thin strips of skin across the cuts to create the look of torn skin.

5 STEP 3: EATING FLESH It would not be a zombie without the craving for some human flesh. Draw a long strip of skin hanging from the mouth and make parts of it pointy to make it look torn.

6 STEP 4: EYES Keep the blank stare we drew in the first step… but either erase the pupils and draw rolled eyes or draw one of each.

7 STEP 5: A TORN CHEEK Draw a torn cheek that exposes some of the teeth.
Draw this hole in the skin the same way you drew the previous cuts but leave a blank space underneath to draw in the teeth.

8 STEP 6: COLOR Color the exposed flesh and the cuts RED to create the look of blood. Add red to some of the hair over her forehead to make it look soaked in blood. Add a little red around the eyes to make them look bloodshot. Use a little bit of yellow on the inside to make them look more zombie-like.
