A True Story Based on a biographical book written by Aboriginal Australian author Doris Pilkington and Nugi Garimara Directed by Phillip Noyce

2 The main characters of the film
Molly Daisy (Molly’s sister) Gracie (Molly and Daisy’s cousin The Chief Protector of Aborigines, A.O Neville (nickname devil)

3 Film in context Context refers to the time and place in which the film is set and made. The film was set in the nineteenth century, when Aboriginal children were removed and distanced from their families as part of an attempt to assimilate them.

4 The Story In 1931, Molly, Gracie and Daisy were taken away from their families at Jigalong in the north of Western Australia. The three children were taken to the Moore River Settlement near Perth, Western Australia. It is based on a true story.

5 Why study Rabbit-Proof Fence?
It is a way of understanding Australia’s past and it’s policies. It helps us to understand Aboriginal people It shows us how Government policies can effect our lives.
