The film was set in the nineteenth century, when Aboriginal children were removed and distanced from their families as part of an attempt to assimilate them.

4. The Story
In 1931, Molly, Gracie and Daisy were taken away from their families at Jigalong in the north of Western Australia.
The three children were taken to the Moore River Settlement near Perth, Western Australia.
It is based on a true story.
