1 Galileo Galilei By: Hannah McCarthy
“In questions of science, the authority of a thousand is not worth the humble reasoning of a single individual.” ~ Galileo Galilei By: Hannah McCarthy

2 Facts About Galileo’s Life
He was born in Pisa,Italy. February 15,1564. He is said to be the father of modern science. In 1581 he went to The University Of Pisa to study medicine In 1583 he made his first discovery which was the movement of a pendulum. During his trial where he was forced to admit that the earth was the center of the universe he muttered Eppur si mouve translated into “yet it moves”

3 Heliocentric Theory Galileo was the first astronomer that used a telescope. He made a number of observations. He tried to prove that Copernicus's theory was right. The roman Catholic Church did not like this.

4 Principle Of Inertia The principle of Inertia was similar to Newtons first law.To understand Newton's law of motion we have to understand the theory of Inertia invented Galileo. Before Galileo discovered Inertia, people thought that a force was necessary to keep something moving. For , if we push a ball across a room, it seems that the push is necessary to make the velocity of the ball. If I stop pushing, the ball stops moving. But Galileo believed that when the push on the ball is taken away, the ball should continue to move along without any assistance. The friction force is then the force that will stop the chair from moving. Cited from :

5 How does his work affect things today.
He was the one who said the universe doesn’t revolve around the earth. He also helped make a ton of discoveries. He looked at the milky way and discovered Jupiter.
