Yasmin and her mother examined the form that came with her new water heater. “Look, we can get a huge rebate!” said Yasmin. Her mother looked more carefully. “You’re right, our water heater qualifies because it is more energy efficient than our old one.” As her mother filled out the form, Yasmin read the flyer and saw something else.

“Mom, there is a free service that will come and tell us how to save even more energy.” “Oh, that would be great,” said Yasmin’s mother. “Last winter we had a pretty high electricity bill. I don’t want to waste my hard-earned money if I don’t have to.” CHALLENGE QUESTION: What does it take to reduce energy use in a home?
