HIGHLAND PARK DISC GOLF PROPOSED RENOVATION AND EXPANSION
January 16, 2018
2
The City of Saint Paul is proposing a renovation and expansion of the Highland Park Nine Hole Disc Golf Course. During 2017, Saint Paul Parks and Recreation, along with Ward 3 Councilmember Chris Tolbert, sought input on future improvements to the Highland Park Disc Golf Course via an on-line survey. July 14 to August 4 The results of the survey gave the City a better understanding of how we could improve the amenity.
3
Overwhelmingly, respondents wanted:
18 holes (currently, there are only nine holes) Better signage (currently, there is no signage) More benches (currently, there is only one bench) More trash receptacles (currently, there are trash receptacles near the restrooms and tot lot) Updated equipment, (e.g. concrete tee pads, baskets) Refreshments CURRENT Tee Pad Basket Bench

The City of Saint Paul reached out to Cale Leiviska, a top ten world professional disc golfer, disc golf course designer, disc golf tournament director, owner of Airborn Dics Golf, and Highland Park resident. The Highland Park Disc Golf Course renovation and expansion: Adds nine (9) disc golf holes in currently undeveloped parts of the park. Remains well clear of public areas, e.g. picnic tables, sidewalks and tot lot. Promotes people moving through currently underutilized areas of the park. Does not remove trees. Meets Saint Paul Parks and Recreation’s Mission – “To help make Saint Paul the most livable city in America, Saint Paul Parks and Recreation will facilitate the creation of active lifestyles, vibrant places, and a vital environment.” Addresses Saint Paul Parks and Recreation’s Vision – “Saint Paul Parks and Recreation will make Saint Paul the most livable city in America by: Responding creatively to change Innovating with every decision Connecting the entire city”
