2 Anatomy of a snake Some snakes have 400 ribs.
Snakes have sharp teeth to defend themselves. Snakes also have scales to protect and help them move. An adult snake will grow up to about 10 feet long. Snakes are reptiles which means they are cold blooded. Snakes are usually brown and green.

3 Habitat of a snake No snakes live in Antarctica.
They are found around most of the world. Some snakes live in grass others live in forests. Some snakes live in deserts and some snakes even live in water. Some snakes are found in the Arctic Circle. Only 110 snakes live in the USA.

4 Life cycle of a snake All snakes molt or shed.
Most mother snakes lay eggs other mother snakes give birth to live babies. Mother snakes do not take care of their babies. The baby snakes have a razor sharp tooth on its upper jaw. It rubs this tooth back and forth on the inside of the eggshell. New born snakes struggle long and hard to get free.

5 Interesting facts of a snake
There are 3,000 kinds of snakes. Snakes only have room for 1 large lung. The largest snake weighs 400 pounds. Snakes can hear vibrations from the ground using the bones inside their jaws. Snakes swallow their prey whole.
