Introduction The McLaren P1 is a brand new hyper car that is teeming with groundbreaking technology. For example, the McLaren P1 utilizes a dual engine system that is comprised of a gasoline powered engine and an electric motor. This is a brand new innovation that is only being explored by few other auto manufacturers including Porsche and even Ferrari. These new innovations could play a pivotal role in steering the automobile industry in the eco-friendly direction.

Gasoline Engine The gasoline engine inside the McLaren P1, also called the M838T, is a 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 petrol engine. This engine produces 600 nm of torque at 3,000 nm/min. This means a 0-62 time in 2.8 seconds and a top speed that is electronically limited to 217 mph, which is incredible, even for today’s standards. This engine is a lethal combination of speed and power, especially when you add the electric motor that adds 192 MORE horsepower.
4
Electric Motor The electric motor offers the McLaren P1 a sense of refinement and maturity, as well as some practicality. The engineers at McLaren developed an engine that can work in tandem with their petrol engine to improve fuel economy and emissions. In eco-mode, which means that only the electric mode is activated, the McLaren P1 can drive 6.8 miles, a very big safety net if you have run out of gas. It can also be used as an alternative engine in the case that you are feeling extremely eco-friendly.
5
Modes The McLaren P1 has a variety of different drive modes, one of which is the combined power of both the M838T petrol engine & the M838TQ electric motor. Other modes include E-mode, which is just the M838TQ taking full control, race mode, which stiffens throttle response and lowers suspension, and gas-only mode, a last resort when the electric motor is out of energy. This allows the McLaren P1 to be ready to adapt and thrive in any situation with optimal performance.
6
Effect on Environment Not only can the McLaren P1 outperform any other car under the sun, it also has some of the best CO2 emissions among hyper cars and super cars, outputting only 279 g/km. The McLaren P1 combines the fun and aggressiveness of a supercar with the practicality and sense of an electric car.
