PUSH YOUR ‘SELF’!
OLYMPIC DAY
Last Thursday we enjoyed a fun-filled day all about the Winter Olympics. First, there was an assembly where Mr Hore taught us a little about this sporting event. We were all very proud of Blessing and Emmanuel Danquah, Louie Petruccio and Dima Dunajevs. because they got to try out a Bob sleigh simulator and made it onto the BBC news! This was a colossal achievement for Abbotsweld and the people involved and shows people all over the world how great Abbotsweld is!
All day, our lessons were themed around the Winter Olympics and we all had a go at designing, making and testing a model skeleton. We would like to thank Mr Hore and all of the teachers who helped to bring this day to life.

Some of the activities ranged from multi-sensory fruit tasting, first aid, pizza making, sewing, crochet and much more.
This term saw the big launch of Abbotsweld’s new SELF programme. For those of you who do not know, SELF is a programme that the teachers have come up with to provide us with more life experiences and help us become well rounded citizens of the future. The S stands for ‘Social’ E stands for ‘Exposure’ L stands for ‘Life skills’ and F stands for ‘Fascination’.
On Friday, we embarked on a school wide celebration and launch of SELF which included parent workshops, interesting sessions from reception up to year 6 and lots of balloons!

OUR DEPUTY!
She does not have a favourite class as she has a wonderful connection with every class in the school. Mrs Nee feels that Abbotsweld has made lots of progress but can still improve by inspiring children to have a wider range of life experiences.
We have learnt lot’s about Mrs Nee in her professional role, but we wanted to get to know her a little better. Therefore, we asked her some questions about what she likes to do when she is not teaching.
Mrs Nee has had lots of interesting experiences but her favourite time out side of school was when she got married and had a huge party. Her favourite things to do in her spare time is walk her dogs and take her daughter to the park.

Mrs Nee has been at our school for 2 years so far from We wanted to interview her to find out what it is like to be the Deputy head at Abbotsweld.
‘It is a very busy job being the deputy head but I love the fact that it is different every day and I love my job.’ Mrs Nee has worked at a number of schools before joining Abbotsweld including: Elon and St Anne’s in Edmonton and Longwood (another member of NET academies). Mrs Nee’s favourite subject to teach is English and she enjoys teaching all year groups.
