Galatians 6:2 2Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Romans 12:3-13 3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. 4For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. 9Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the LORD. 12Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13Share with the LORD's people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Matthew 18:20 - For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Connect, Become, Impact

12 Now What? Discipleship Pathway: Exploring, Believing, Growing, Multiplying Pray that God might use us to gently, lovingly move those with which we interact along the discipleship pathway. Learn and obey the Bible personally and in small and large group community. Learn: Read, Reflect, and Respond Obey: James 1:22-25 Large group: regular church service participation Small group: some smaller sense of community where accountability is part and partial of the group dynamic Pray that we might be receptive to gentle loving accountability by those who interact with us.

13 Intentional In Interactions
As we interact with people in our normal course of life, ask God for opportunities to determine where along the Discipleship pathway the person is? Ask God for an opportunity to gently, lovingly urge/assist them in progress. For those we have an ongoing relationship: Three questions that should become part of our greeting to hold each other accountable How many days are you in the Word weekly? Did you share your faith in the past? What verse did you memorize last week?

Teammates September 9, 2018 Lee Bennett

23 Table Talk What things have you done this summer or in the past year that have brought joy or happiness to you?

24 Overview of I John Author: John, the Apostle, son of Zebedee, a Galilean fisherman, younger brother of James, also an Apostle, possibly the son of Salome (feminine version of the name, “Solomon”) Date: probably written between AD To whom: The churches in Asia-Minor (Turkey)

25 Overview of I John (contd.)
Occasion: Nominalism vs. true faith & worship Erroneous teachings about Jesus Gnosticism with its claims that all matter is evil and Jesus could not be the God-Man, nor did it matter if one lived a moral/godly life

26 A look at the Book: I John 1:1-4
What was from the beginning, What we have heard, What we have seen with our eyes, What we beheld and our hands handled Concerning the Word of life--

27 I John 1:2 And the life was manifested And we have seen
And bear witness And proclaim to you The eternal life, which was with the Father And was manifested to us--

28 I John 1:3-4 What we have seen and heard We proclaim to you also;
That you may have fellowship with us; And indeed our fellowship is with the Father, And with His Son Jesus Christ And these things we write that our joy may be made complete.

29 Table talk How helpful is it to know what John wrote in his gospel account in understanding this text? How helpful is it to you to hear or to read someone’s eyewitness account of something? What do you think when you hear two people describe the same events & experiences in different ways?

30 Table talk Do you remember the first time you spoke with someone about Jesus Christ? What were your feelings afterward? Have you ever tried to communicate your faith in another language? Was it difficult to find words that were mutually understandable?

31 Closing Lauren Daigle’s song: “You Say”
After the song, please turn to those at your table and pray that you might surrender your life completely to God and allow Him to use you this week.

32 Turn, now, to those at your table and pray that you might surrender your life completely to God and allow Him to use you this week.
