Measures: Gross County Product, Employment growth, employment by sector, salaries by sector, unemployment rate.
Since the 2002 version of this report was published, the county has continued to experience steady economic growth, but at a lower rate than during the late 1990s. It enjoys a remarkably low unemployment rate, and has experienced modest job growth.
Some of the largest increases in employment are in occupations that typically command the lowest salaries (Service and Retail). With housing expenses as high as they are in Ventura County, this signals a continuing struggle for economic security in thousands of local households.
