Teaching Tip: Where do you buy your clothes? Do you like to shop alone or with a friend?

3 blue jeans Blue jeans are pants. They are made from denim.
Are you tired of seeing people in blue jeans? Why are they so popular?

4 belt Belts are worn around the waist.
This is a leather belt. It has a buckle. Do thin belts make the waistline look larger or smaller? What about wide belts?

5 boots Boots are worn on the feet.
Boots protect the feet and keep them warm. When do you wear boots?

6 dress Women wear dresses to work and parties.
Do women in your native country wear dresses more often than pants?

7 skirt Women wear skirts with blouses or sweaters.
Should skirts cover the knees? Do women in your native country wear mini skirts?

8 blouse Women wear blouses with pants or skirts.
What kind of sleeves does this blouse have?

9 high heels High heels are women's shoes.
The heels on high heels are usually ½ to 4 inches tall. Do you think high-heels are difficult to walk in? Are they difficult to work in?

10 suit A suit includes a jacket and a matching pair of pants.
When do people wear suits? On what occasions should they wear a suit?

11 school uniform Some children wear uniforms to school.
Popular uniform colors are navy blue or beige. Ask parents if they want their children’s school to require that students wear uniforms to school. What are some advantages and what are some disadvantages?

12 coat Coats are worn over clothes when it is cold outside.
Is the weather in the United States warmer or colder than the weather in your country of origin?

13 jacket People wear jackets when it is cool or cold.
Jackets are shorter than coats. Do you like jackets that have a hood?

14 sweater Sweaters are made from yarn. Sweaters keep people warm.
This is a pullover sweater. Do you prefer pullover sweaters or button up sweaters?

15 scarf Scarves are worn around the neck.
Scarves keep people warm in the winter. Did you ever knit a scarf?

16 gloves People wear gloves to keep their hands warm.
Do you prefer gloves or mittens? Why?

17 mittens Children wear gloves to keep their hands warm.
Why are mittens more popular for children and gloves more popular for adults?

18 pajamas People wear pajamas to bed. Pajamas are comfortable.
What is the difference between pajamas and nightgowns?

19 slippers Slippers are worn inside the house.
They are slipped on and off. Have you ever worn slippers to go to the store?

20 prom clothes This couple is dressed for their high school prom.
How much does it cost to go to a high school prom? What does it include? (photos, limo, clothes, flowers, etc.)

21 gown Gowns are worn to parties, formal dinners, and proms.
Ask women: When was the last time you wore a gown?

22 tuxedo A tuxedo is a black jacket with a satin lapel.
Tuxedos have matching pants. Ask men: How much does it cost to rent a tuxedo?

23 slip Slips are worn under dresses and skirts. This is a full slip.
