1 SAFETY First

2 Safety Terms Safety is the state or condition of being safe or freedom from danger, risk, or injury. An accident is any suddenly occurring, unintentional event which causes injury or property damage. A hazard is a potential source of danger and is usually the cause of an accident. First Aid is immediate temporary care given to the victim of an accident.

3 Responsibility Safety is the responsibility of the student, teacher, and the school. The school must offer safe, adequate facilities. The teacher must provide a well-organized environment that eliminates free time and horseplay. The students should conduct themselves in a safe manner.

4 The Classroom Safety hazards in the classroom may include narrow aisles, poor lighting, and lack of storage area. It is important to keep the area neat and clean. In order to do this, you must pick up trash and return tools and equipment.

5 Emergencies Code Red Code Yellow
There are plans in place for emergency situations! Code Green Code Blue Code Red Code Yellow

6 Code Green Fire Alarm! Everyone must exit the building calmly using the designated route. Please stay with me so that I can account for you.

7 Code Blue Evacuate Building
Evacuate the building using the same route as during a fire. Be sure to take your keys and purse if it is not a drill.

8 Code Red Lock Down We must be quiet, lock the doors, cover the windows and turn out the lights. Do not answer the door unless the person says “I am here to collect your documentation.”

9 Code Yellow Caution This is most likely to be used. Stay in the classroom and lock the door. The building doors are locked and class continues as normal.

10 Fire Safety There are four classes of fires:
The fire triangle There are four classes of fires: Class A- occurs in ordinary combustible materials, Class B- occurs with flammable liquids, Class C- occur in or near electrical equipment, Class D- occur with combustible metals HEAT FUEL OXYGEN

11 Accidents Notify the teacher immediately, Then send someone for help.
The victim should be removed from danger Administer first aid. It is important to remain calm Keep the victim calm.

12 Rules for Personal Safety
Keep chairs and stools on all four legs No running or horseplay Use equipment with permission only Conduct yourself in a safe manner Use the tools and equipment for their intended use Do not use tools, etc. without safety instructions Report all accidents to the teacher Only lift heavy objects with proper supervision. Use paper cutter with caution. Use caution when operating the blue line machine.
