2. By opening up data we increase transparency, and reduce the barrier to entry for SMEs. So far the SMART city agenda has been owned by the large Enterprise vendors. It is typically SMEs that drive innovation through agility and creativity.
So … we are aiming to create more SMEs through the Future Cities agenda! Our approach is similar to that of Salesforce an e-commerce company who recently announced a developer event with a prize of $1 million.
Our prizes will not be to this scale however, from our 4 hackathons each winner will receive a sum of money to take their idea from inception to working prototype and will then be give a platform through the future cities demonstrator to build a client base for their product.
