How to Draw Concave Mirror Diagrams
Instructions Diagram Draw a ray from the top of the object parallel to the principal axis. This ray will reflect through the focal point. Draw a ray from the top of the object through the focal point and on to the mirror. This ray will reflect parallel to the principal axis. Extend the reflected rays until they cross. (If you need to extend the reflected rays behind the mirror, use dashed lines.) The point where the rays meet is the top of the image.

How to Draw Convex Mirror Diagrams
Instructions Diagram Draw a ray from the top of the object parallel to the principal axis. This ray will reflect as if it came from the focal point. Draw a ray from the top of the object toward the focal point (stop at the mirror). This ray will reflect parallel to the principal axis. Extend the reflected rays behind the mirror using dotted lines until they cross. The point where the rays meet is the top of the image.
