2. Usher Syndrome Symptoms and characteristics
There are three different types of the Usher Syndrome; type 1, type 2, and type 3. With type 1 Usher syndrome, Children are profoundly deaf at birth and have severe balance problems. With type 2 Children with Usher syndrome are born with moderate to severe hearing loss and normal balance. Children with type 3 Usher syndrome have normal hearing at birth. Some may develop balance problems later on. Hearing and sight worsen over time, but the rate at which they decline depends from person to person, even within the same family.

3. Description of Usher Syndrome (cont.)
Who is affected? You can inherit it from your parents
Someone who has inherited a change in the same gene from each parent
Only carriers of the gene that carry the syndrome can be affected by the disease.
Outlook or quality of life
Depending on which type of Usher Syndrome you have (Type 1, 2, or 3) you may be born with deafness, or eventually be deaf and have decreased night vision, and may have balance problems (Especially with type 1 and 3).
Usher syndrome affects hearing, balance, and vision.
