9 Settings of communicating
Intrapersonal Communication with yourself (making choices, strategies) Interpersonal Communication Between people you have a relationship with (friends, family, co-workers, boss) Impersonal Communication Between people that you don’t know well (sales people, bus, etc) Small Group 3-10 people, may be professional or personal, usually more intimate

Channel- the way message is sent (written, spoken, etc)

13 The sender puts the message in a form that they believe it will be understood
Encoded Decoded The way the receiver understand the message

14 Interference Anything that prevents the message from being received as intended Noise, bad connection, language, volume, tone of voice, distance, attitude, tired, cultural issues, credibility of speaker

75% of each workday is used talking and listening 75% of what we hear, we hear imprecisely 75% of what we hear correctly, we forget within 3 weeks
