One mistake that many individuals make is playing the “Who is Better “ Game? We constantly compare ourselves with others and if we fail in that comparison, we begin to feel that we are not good at anything. That statement is false. We all have abilities, and one way to discover where our strengths are is to explore the idea of multiple intelligences.

Linguistic Intelligence
Some people have a special ability to express and understand words. These people read well, like to write, and communicate well.

Logical-Mathematical
Intelligence Individuals with this intelligence are able to understand the relationship among actions,

Musical Intelligence is another type of intelligence
Musical Intelligence is another type of intelligence. People with musical intelligence are especially sensitive to music. They may have skill in playing a musical instrument, may have a good singing voice, and may enjoy reproducing or creating music.

You might be surprised to discover that there is a form of intelligence that involves physical skill. Individuals with this type of intelligence may have good balance and coordination and often enjoy sports and/or dancing. These individuals may also enjoy working with their hands.

Other individuals may have a unique ability to understand plants, animals, and the natural world. These individuals may enjoy working with plants or animals. They may like to garden and may also enjoy studying science. These individuals have a naturalist intelligence.

Certain individuals possess a unique ability to identify their own personal weaknesses and strengths. These individuals are good at setting personal goals and reaching them. They are also able to manage their feelings and their mental activities effectively. These people have a strong intrapersonal intelligence.

Spatial Intelligence A person with a strong spatial intelligence is able to think in pictures. This person is vey creative and may excel at drawing, painting, or photography. This person may also be good at building or putting things together.

Most people are strong in more than one intelligence
Most people are strong in more than one intelligence. Knowing your strengths may help you in choosing electives or activities. Knowing your weaknesses may tell you the areas in which you need to work harder. To help you determine your strengths and weaknesses, next time we meet for OLWEUS, we will complete a multiple intelligence survey.
