Creator has ability to limit how others use their work. Regulates who is allowed to copy and share. New opportunities to access, share, create, etc. Easier collaboration on human creations. 4 Fun fact The Copyright Term Extension Act (CETA) is nicknamed the “Mikey Mouse Protection Act” because it was enacted just before Steamboat Willie, the original Mikey Mouse cartoon, would have been in the public domain. 7 Goal: Allow creators a way to retain their copyright and allow their work to be reused with a set of automatic permissions that are less restrictive than traditional copyright.
