The Writing Test Sampler
Schaefer Café Menu: Today’s Special: The Writing Test Sampler The Writing Test Sampler is recommended for all of our high school sophomore students. It includes two of our finest samples of chocolate chip cookies, one of which is made right here in Schaefer Café. Our chip of the day and your choice of soda or water is also included with the Sampler, served by our charming hostess, cook, waitress, owner, and bouncer.

Food Critic Instructions:
With your partner, you are creating a rubric for the perfect chocolate chip cookie in the left hand column on your paper. Together, decide what requirements the perfect chocolate chip cookie would be like, taking in the following factors: 1. Texture 2. Appearance/Size 3. Number of chocolate chips 4. Temperature It is a good idea to start with a 4 and work your way down the scale. For a Non-Scorable, put “Not a cookie at all” For a Zero, put “Not a chocolate chip cookie.”

Rubric Scoring Instructions:
One person from each table should go collect the samples from the table in the room. Take the plate holder and fill both plates with the samples. On the back of the rubric, you have a scoring guide for the samples., which are already labeled for you. Taste each sample and score it according to the rubric the class created together. Write down your partner’s score and then come to a conclusion on the final score for the sample.

Rubric Results: Potato Chips
-Should be scored as a non scorable as it is not even a cookie Crème Cookies -Should be scored a zero as it is not a chocolate chip cookie at all Homemade chocolate chip cookie -Should be scored a 3 or a 4 Store bought chocolate chip cookies -Should be scored a 2 or 3 as it does not meet the texture or temperature requirements of a 4 Brand name chocolate chip cookies
