Post-industrial society
The rise of globalisation is connected to the affirmation of the post-industrial societies after the Second World War. A post-industrial society is a society marked by a transition from a manufacturing-based economy to a service-based economy , a transition that is also connected with a societal restructuring. The term post-industrial was coined by American sociologist Daniel Bell in in his book The Coming of Post-Industrial Society.

What is globalization It is a process of interaction and integration among the people, companies and governments of different nations, a process driven by international trade and investments and aided by information technology. This process has effects on the environment, on culture , on political systems, on economic development and prosperity and on human physical well-being in societies around the world.

Origins of globalization
Globalization is not new, though. For thousand of years, people - and later, corporations- have been buying from and selling to each other in lands at great distances, such as through the famed silk Road across Central Asia that connected China and Europe during the Middle Ages. Likewise, for centuries, people and corporations have invested in entreprises in other countries. Many of the features of the current wave of globalization are similar to those prevailing before the First World War. After the war many governments have adopted free- market economic systems , increasing their own productive potential and creating new opportunities for international trade and investments. Governments have established international agreements to promote trade in goods, services and investments.

DOWNSIDES Globalization is not perfect. People of different civilizations have different views on the relations between God and man, the citizen and the state, parents and children. The world is becoming a smaller place . The interactions between people of different civilizations are increasing. The process of economics modernization and social change are separating people from long standing local identities.

What is outsourcing ? The acceleration of economic development has guided to an improvement in economic and social development but has also widened the gap between rich and poor countries. Economic globalization has allowed many corporation based in the West to move factories and jobs to less economically developed countries ,a process called outsourcing. Corporations can pay lower wages, because the standard of life are much lower. Laws protecting the environment and people are less spread and controlled.
