October 9, 1876: First 2-Way Phone Conversation Alexander Graham Bell, inventor of the telephone, made the first call on March 7, 1876, to his assistant Thomas Watson, but Watson could not reply. Bell kept working, and six months later he created a phone that could receive as well as send spoken sounds!

Queen Bess! Coleman, who lived from , wanted to become a pilot when she heard stories from WWI pilots. She trained in France and later performed in air shows and was admired by the public. She was killed in a plane crash in Florida. In 2006 she was inducted into the National Aviation Hall of Fame.

The Cambodian Alphabet has 74 Letters! Cambodia, a small country in Asia, has the world’s longest alphabet. It is made up of 74 different characters, with consonants and vowels stacked together to control sounds.
