Data Communication invested significantly in Research & Development during the implementation of the solution SC Scan4you, taking into consideration that the service actually is a global innovation for the accounting firms in Greece industry, by developing functions and ensuring features critical to its effectiveness.
More specifically, considerable effort was put to analyze, develop coding and parameterization, in order to satisfy the requirements that an accounting office in the Greek market sets.

3. DC Scan4you Flowchart
The chart presents the procedure followed by Data Communication to effect the “recognition” of scanned invoices and download the accounting entries to the accountant’s pc.
Data Communication uses the Microsoft Azure platform implementing all web services based on it.
The procedure is as follows:
The accountant, user of DC Scan4you, scans the invoices of his customers (approx. 40 invoices are scanned in less than a minute). Then the respective images are uploaded to the cloud and are elaborated by several web procedures developed and customized by Data Communication on Microsoft Azure platform, using technologies such as Microsoft Azure Functions and Serverless Computing.
Particular emphasis was put by Data Communication in developing its Artificial Intelligence system (ΑΙ) which uses the ABBYY OCR platform to “read” on the cloud all sorts of documents (invoices, retail receipts, bills (such as PPC, TELCO etc) and identify the 8 elements necessary to effect an accounting entry. The overall target was to automatically effect accounting entries and, also, achieve "remembering" how to process different types of invoices for every single client of the accounting firm.
The AI system performs a series of automatic controls (Multi Step verification process) in order to identify and correct any errors in document identification. In some cases there may be human intervention by qualified staff, specially trained DC employees, who may be called upon to intervene in rare cases which the AI system will indicate thus ensuring recognition success of 99,999%.
All in all, the invoices are being digitally archived and elaborated in the DC Scan4you user PC, in less than 24 hours.
Finally, it is important to mention that the R&D department of DC has further developed the Academia Financials accounting s/w so as to integrate DC Scan4you with all its required functionality. The overall target was to automatically effect accounting entries and, also, achieve "remembering" how to process different types of invoices for every single client of the accounting firm.
We should also mention that aiming at maximizing data security for both accounting firms and their customers, Data Communication used modern data encryption methods via Domain Controller.
