Pima Association of Governments July 20, 2018 The Westin La Paloma Tucson, Arizona Good Morning, As we learn more about the world of PAG and the activities we are all involved in it becomes clear PAG is a dynamic and complex organization. The region we serve is also a combination of jurisdictions all working to build community. Much like we all focus on our roles each day, we all have a part in building our community and supporting our member jurisdictions. One of the ways PAG makes these connections and identifies resources is thru partnerships.

2 Define the WHY Making the case for why we care about the outcome of the 2020 Census Arizona legislative seat +1 AZ Counting for Dollars documents to tell the story 1% undercount in cost Arizona $56.6M There is a definition of partnerships that speaks to the elements of cooperation and join responsibilities. We all have experienced a partnership in some fashion. There are teams where the group works towards a common goal. PAG engages in contractual agreements and MOUs and work orders….all define a relationship and an exchange. We have grants where funding is exchanged to deliver a product. And we have partnered with the likes of YMCA to match effort and finding to support a specific program like the TRP in the name of alternative modes for commuters.

5 Who wants to be a fundraiser?
Build a budget Jurisdictional investments Business connections MAG/PAG Employment Viewer GuideStar source for non-profits Grants for social justice, employment, environment, food deserts As part of the partnerships and development effort we must address the “identifying resources question….so who wants to be a fundraiser??? Generally this is a role few will sign up for. However we all know we would have a difficult time if we did not have resources and funding to deliver our work program and the events we are engaged in. So I invite all of your to consider that you too are part of the matrix. As you work in your respective fields and engage with companies, non-profits, engineering firms, utilities and the like that you consider if they may be a good partner for our other initiatives. If so just share their info with me and I can follow up…you don’t have to do the pitch. Rxamples : BTTTC-Miovision HeinfeldMeech-last Friday---they audit us

7 Maximize Relationships: “The One to Many”
As the fiscal agent for the CPBS and as a non-profit, there are responsibilities. When you go out and secure funding, in the way of donations, grants or contracts it is very important that you track activities and you are able to account for where the money was spent. Working with Rob and Roy we manage the various accounts and produce reports for the programs housed under CPBS. The CPBS also affords PAG to receive donations and sponsorships and provide a tax benefit because the funds would be received by a non-profit. Partnerships strengthen our community. The more partners we have the greater reach and influence we can develop across the jurisdictions in support of a better community. In-kind networks to share information Public education Trust building Metrics and tracking
