General Training Session
2
Agenda Why consider packaged pumping systems?
Packaged system components Application examples Website site selection
3
Current Markets Field-Built System (Most Jobs) Loose pumps
Loose hydronic specialties Loose starters and drives Controls
4
Reason Pump manufacturers are not good at engineered packages or controls Engineers don’t want to change design practices Contractors want to buy individual components Packages perceived being more expensive Custom products require more time and expertise to sell
5
Current Markets Pumping Package Market
Smaller compared with field-built Large potential $$$$$$$$$
6
Why choose Standard Pumping Package?
Factory built product Simplified field installation Design flexibility Factory mounted controls Lowers installed costs! Raises quality!!
7
Why choose Standard Pumping Package?
Completes the lump with other standard products Allows us to be competitive against “me too” brands. Allows easy integration of entire plant with one controller
8
What is the Goal with the Standard Pumping Package?
Get a Quick Start Quantify if the Project is a Candidate Move To Custom as Needed Easier to Sell Catalog Sale Allow the reps to be self-sufficient 50% - Right on the Money 30% - Enough to Give Engineer an Idea – Modify Later 20% - Move To Custom – Allow 1 Week A.E. Time
9
Design Flexibility Three Basic Systems
Constant speed (Primary Chilled, Condenser) Variable speed (Secondary Chilled, VS Condenser) Variable primary flow (Chilled or Hot) Ability to generate selections from Catalog, CD or Internet
10
Major Components Pumps Variable Speed Drives Bases Controls
11
Major Components Pumps Variable Speed Dives Bases
B&G end suction for all products (Model 1510) Variable Speed Dives Standard ABB product with Systecon nameplate – will always be current Bases Standard Structural Steel Interior supports for pumps, piping ¼” diamond plate decking for integral working surface Optional spring isolators
12
Factory Mounted Controls
Using scaled down SCRIPT controller All units preprogrammed for Pump sequencing via remote Start/Stop Pump and VFD failure Remote monitoring of contact points There is spare I/O available on all units !!!
13
Factory Mounted Controls
Provides stand alone features similar to chillers and VFDs Allows fast response rate needed by PID control system Provides for remote monitoring and reset of setpoints and alarms from a single point Direct Comm Link via Bacnet or Modbus with standard published points list
14
Controls Standard control panel with selectable points for number of pumps (2 or 3) on all systems Standard control panel with selectable points for number of building zones (1-3) All programs written and tested by Systecon Universal Programs Constant Speed (PCW,CDW) Variable Speed (SCW,VPF) Very similar in setup to a chiller
15
Control Panel Single Point Power – Includes Additional 120VAC for Other Items SCRIPT Main Controller with 6” Display Pre-Programmed
16
Application Examples Variable Primary Flow system Primary/Secondary system Condenser System Dual Use Package for chiller Water Source Heat Pump system
17
Variable Primary Flow System
Standard Chiller Cooling Coils at AHU’s VPS Variable Primary Flow Package
18
Controls – Variable Primary System
Pre-Programmed to operate pumps and bypass valve Standard provides chiller staging, chiller isolation valves open/shut Send chiller request to controller over comm Line Chiller panel can open/close valve direct from panel (Use primary pump start/stop).
19
Primary-Secondary System
VSS Variable Flow Package Standard Chiller Building Load CSS Constant Primary Flow Package
20
Controls – Primary/Secondary System
Each package has a pre-programmed SCRIPT system to operate pumps Add a condenser package for a complete central plant system.
21
Standard Cooling Tower
Condenser Water System Standard Chiller Standard Cooling Tower CSS Constant Flow Package
22
Controls – Condenser System
Package has a pre-programmed SCRIPT controller to operate pumps
23
Dual Use Primary-Condenser
To Condenser Barrel Standard Chiller To Evaporator Barrel By selecting A constant flow system with individual discharge header, a single package can be used for both sides of the chiller with a back-up pump for either side. CSS Constant Flow Package with individual discharge
24
Controls – Dual-Use Primary Condenser
The individual discharge system allows individual start/stop points for the two end pumps. Spare back-up pump valved to take place of either primary or condenser pump.

27
Geothermal Heat Pump Loop - Low Cost Alternative
Plate & Frame Heat Exchanger Heat Pump Well Field CSS Constant Speed Package
28
Controls – Heat Pump Loops
Each package has a pre-programmed SCRIPT controller to operate pumps Should not need any other SCRIPT controller.

Agenda Why choose packaged pumping systems? Standard packaged system components Website selection
30
The Website and Catalog
Website - Quickest way to information – and only way to pricing for now Acquire a PDF or ACAD Drawing Get submittal checklist or proposal Get engineering presentations and catalogs Engineering Bulletin Designed to give to engineers Separate control bulletin with I/O count
31
Welcome to the Web!
33
Proceed to Login Data or Select Register
34
Please Remember Company Name and Username – They’re Required for Login
35
If You Are Registered, You Are Ready to Go!
36
Step 1 – Choose Your System
37
Step 2 – Choose Your Total Flow
38
Step 3 – “Get” Your System
39
The program picks multiple options
Back-up or no Back-Up Low Pump TDH or High Pump TDH.
40
Once Options Are Taken, Proceed to Next Step(s)

44
Three Pricing Levels If you are a rep – You will get rep net price.
If you are a contractor, price will have 20% add. (Always need some to give back!!!) If you are an engineer – Will have 40% for budgetary purposes
47
Conclusion - Pricing Standard brand pump packages are less expensive because… All engineering done – no custom engineering charges All programming done and tested – minimal field work needed from factory Price concessions for volume on: Pumps, VFDs, Controllers No expensive factory start-up – one week maximum needed for control integration
48
Comparison Systecon vs. Others
PLC Control with flat panel color HMI vs. no controls or HVAC boxes from others Integration to Anyone’s BMS through BACnet or Modbus vs. no or minimal communication Systecon brand name for pumping packages Minimal or no control experience
49
Comparison Systecon vs. Trane
