4 Satisfactory Completion of Year 11
To satisfactorily complete a VCE Unit, a student must: Demonstrate knowledge and skill to a satisfactory standard on ALL Outcomes through a range of school determined assessment tasks. SACs, SATs (Folio), Work Requirements, Class and Homework Meet ALL deadlines Attend 90% of scheduled classes

5 Issues from Semester 1 35% of all students failed at least one Unit in Semester 1 for one or more of these reasons.

6 Attendance/Punctuality
90% attendance means 90% of all available minutes If you are 15 minutes late to period 2 every day, you will NOT meet this requirement – you will miss Do NOT go to your lockers between period 1 & 2 Why is this important? VCAA regulations “All VCE units require 50 hours of class time. You need to attend sufficient class time to complete work. Your school sets minimum class time and attendance rules” Interruption of learning – yours and others References/SEAS applications – provided by the school

7 Authenticity/Plagiarism
Tutors Essays copied from the internet Copying material from the internet Submitting another student’s work

8 Non Attendance or Non Submission (SACs/SATs)
From the VCAA Administrative Handbook (the rules of VCE) A student will be awarded an N for the Unit when one or more of the outcomes has not been achieved because: the student has failed to meet a school deadline for the assessment task, including if an extension of time has been granted for any reason.

9 Non Attendance or Non Submission (SACs/SATs)
If you are absent on the day of a SAC you will be given an opportunity to complete/submit the task for a graded assessment if: You have applied for, and been granted, an extension due to individual circumstances Or - you have a medical certificate (not a letter from home) Or - you are at an official school event – sport/excursion/VET etc. If you are absent without any of the above – for either the first or second opportunity - you will be given ONE opportunity to complete/submit the task for an S or N only.

10 Failed Outcomes From the VCAA Administrative Handbook
The student receives N for the unit when one or more of the outcomes are not achieved because: the work does not demonstrate achievement of the outcomes
