3 Key Dates April 5, 2018 May 5, 2018 Countdown Kickoff News Conference
Unveil new logo and transition from Project  Park Launch new website and interactive mobile app promotion SPC Culture Park Fiesta Medal May 5, 2018 Bexar County 300th Year Anniversary Celebration Today I wanted to give you all an update on what’s going on with the Grand Opening planning: April 5, 2018 A month before our Grand Opening, we will host our countdown Kickoff News Conference where we will unveil the new logo and transition from San Pedro Creek Project  San Pedro Creek Cultural Park branding. On this date we will also launch our new website and interactive mobile app promotion. Additionally, we plan to reveal the SPC Culture Park Fiesta Medal on this date as another buzz/teaser element going into FIESTA. May 5, 2018 is our very special day. Due to this event and project being very near and dear to Bexar County, it’s important to honor this unique project with it’s own special branding. In the past we’ve heard this day labeled as the SPC Tricentennial Celebration, but at the direction of our community and the county, this event will now be branded as the “Bexar County 300th Year Anniversary Celebration”. Now that may sound like a mouthful, but really this labeling avoids dating this very special occasion, and really provides a more encompassing explanation of what we are celebrating.

4 Working Run of Show 11am – Grand Opening Ceremony
Noon – Park officially opens 12:30pm – Nacimiento “encore” Performance Canary Islanders and direct descendants Noon – 5:30pm Family Activities Artist interaction Living History Area Two Stages of entertainment Culture Food Court area 6-9pm – Italian Society/Fratello’s Beer & Wine Garden Proceeds benefit Italian Society 6-9pm – Bexar County Opera (Performance at Tobin) 7-9pm – Music Entertainment on the Main Stage and various night performances throughout the park This is our current working run of show, things are continuously being discussed and added but this provides a good framework for the day and what we’re working towards. At 11am, the Grand Opening Ceremony will kickoff the day. Bexar County is organizing this more formal portion of the celebration with city and county officials, and other important members of the community. At 12:30pm the Nacimiento encore Performance put on by the Canary Islanders and direct descendants will take place to highlight and honor the rich history of Bexar County. From Noon to 5:30pm the park will officially be open for family activities, and all around fun. There will be an interactive Living History Area set up for the whole family to enjoy that will include educational elements of the San Pedro Creek Cultural park broken down into culture, art, and nature. We will also have two stages set up for various entertainment throughout the afternoon and a cultural food court area. Guests will also be able to meet and interact with some of the artists who’s work is featured along the San Pedro Creek Cultural Park. To appeal a little to the adult group, from 6-9pm, the Italian Society will host a Beer & Wine garden in front of the Christopher Columbus Society building with proceeds benefiting the Italian Society. Simultaneously the Bexar County Opera performance will be taking place at The Tobin Center. From 7-9 we’ll have music on the main stage, as well as various night performances throughout the park.

5 We are currently working with COSA on street closure requests and police/security support for the grand opening day event. Point out stage set up: The Grand Opening Ceremony will be held here, overlooking the creek. The second entertainment stage will be located here, with children’s activities in this area, a food court in this area, and other live and interactive entertainment across the park. Map/Logistics

6 Plaza Rebranding “Plaza de Fundación” Fundación = Foundation
Purpose of rebranding I would like to mention, again in honoring this unique project, the county has decided that a more elegant name for this area would be “Plaza de Fundacion” – you may have heard it called the Tricentennial Plaza in the past, but going forward it will now be referred to as Plaza de Fundacion in all branding and marketing. The phrase Plaza de Fundacion really captures the history and relevance to this area more appropriately in that “Fundacion” literally translates to the word “Foundation” in English. This change provides a more timeless element to the plaza and, again, avoids limiting it to a specific time period. We want this park to live on for another 300+ years so getting away from the word “Tricentennial” was a way to establish this thought.

7 San Pedro Creek Culture Park Website & Mobile App
Combine current Project website into Park website Mobile App Audio Tour of Key Stops Culture, Art, Nature We are making great progress with the San Pedro Creek Culture Park Website working with The DeBerry Group and SWEB. The main purpose of this collaboration is to combine the current Project website into a user friendly, interactive Park website. The mobile app will provide a very savvy, modern additional education aspect to the park that will allow the park to be accessible to someone half way across the globe, or in a teacher’s classroom as prep-work for a field trip, or for those who may not be able to physically visit the park for various reasons. And of course for those using the app at the park, they have their own digital tourguide. The app will include an Audio Tour of Key Stops located throughout the park which will include details about the culture and history, art pieces, and interpretive panels that all provide important information pertaining to San Antonio’s robust history. The website and app will contain a calendar of events to keep the community informed of exciting programming that will be planned throughout the year.
