1 English I G/T Course Synthesis Socratic Seminar

2 You must write four (4) questions prior to the seminar and bring to class TWO TYPED copies in MLA format, uniformly double-spaced. You must ask at least one (1) of your questions during the seminar and respond to at least three (3) questions with textual or experiential evidence. Watch time carefully! PLEASE NOTE: Of the 80 minute period, you will have 70 minutes in which to pose questions of your own. The final ten minutes will focus on a discussion over a question posed by Mr. Feudo. Two Universal Theme Questions – What lessons can be learned about life or the world from the literature we have studied this year? How are these texts universal? How do they have relevance for us? Question Categories

4 Course “Big Idea” Questions
What IS literature? Why do we study it, and what is the place of literature in society and the world? How do viewpoint and bias affect our perception of reality? What qualities must one possess to be a survivor? What must one do to be considered a hero? What makes on a strong and effective leader? Does love conquer all? Are our nightly dreams important? What is the position of morality in society and in life, and who gets to decide the parameters of morality? Where is the line between right and wrong? Is it possible to be redeemed from anything? What are the position and purpose of dreams and goals? Are dreams necessary in life? Despite our differences, what makes us all the same? Course “Big Idea” Questions
