Pre-Course Reading: Things Fall Apart We will start discussing and working with this book Thursday, 8/23 You will need your pre-course reading book (In class) as well as your completed work. You should have the book finished – not a fake read…real read! No excuses.

Voice Lesson #4 You will examine a self-portrait by Romaine Brooks, a famous painter. Think about how Brooks expresses her voice—her style or personality. Look carefully at the details of Brook’s self-portrait.

Write About It What is Brooks saying about herself? Complete two sentences as if you were Brooks in this portrait. I am… I feel… Base your statements on the picture, not your own feelings. How do you know what Brooks is saying about herself? What evidence can you find in the picture that supports your statements?
